About this tool

Crop any image to the exact region you need with interactive selection, fixed aspect ratios, and precise pixel coordinates — all processed in your browser.

  • Move and resize a visible crop region with accessible pixel fields and a rule-of-thirds overlay.
  • Apply centered 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, or 9:16 regions immediately instead of only toggling a ratio flag.
  • Create PNG, JPEG, or WebP output explicitly, then decode it again to verify its format and dimensions before download.
  • Shows source, selection, output dimensions, byte size, and browser-canvas preservation limits in the same workspace.

How to use Image Cropper

Load an image, choose a free or fixed aspect ratio, move or resize the visible region, refine its pixel coordinates, then create and download the verified output.

When this tool is useful

  • Preparing a precise hero, thumbnail, or profile crop.
  • Removing unwanted edges while preserving exact output pixels.

Practical tips

  • Keep the original because browser-canvas export removes source metadata and color profiles.
  • Review text and fine detail at full size when using JPEG or WebP quality controls.

Examples you can test

Load an example, compare the result with the expected output, then replace it with your own input.

Create a square profile image

Example input

2400 × 1600 JPEG; centered 1:1 selection; 900 × 900 px

Expected output

Verified 900 × 900 JPEG

JPEG transparency is filled with white and source metadata is not preserved.

Validation checklist

  • Confirm selection origin and dimensions.
  • Check the verified output format, dimensions, and byte size.
  • Open the downloaded image in its destination before removing the original.

Frequently asked questions

Does it upload my images to a server?

No. All cropping happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.

Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio?

Yes. Choose from presets like 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, or 9:16, or use free-form cropping for any shape.

What image formats are supported?

You can open PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, or AVIF images up to 25 MB, 60 megapixels, and 16384 pixels per side when the browser can decode them. Export is available in PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Animated images are flattened to the browser-decoded frame.
