About this tool

Review supported hidden location, identity, device, time, and description data before sharing, while keeping parser exclusions and re-encoding changes explicit.

  • Checks PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and AVIF signatures, browser decoding, 25 MB size, 16,384 px dimensions, and a 60-megapixel processing ceiling before drawing conclusions.
  • Parses supported TIFF, EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, user-comment, and ICC fields, groups review signals, and exports source-linked JSON evidence.
  • Re-encodes to an explicit PNG or JPEG policy and verifies output MIME, signature, dimensions, and supported privacy metadata before enabling the verified download.

How to use Metadata Privacy

Load an image, inspect supported TIFF, EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, user-comment, and ICC fields, then create a re-encoded copy when metadata removal is appropriate.

When this tool is useful

  • Reviewing a photo before public sharing.
  • Checking whether location or camera fields are present.

Practical tips

  • Keep the original because re-encoding can change pixels and quality.
  • Maker notes remain outside verification, and an ICC color profile may remain for rendering.

Examples you can test

Load an example, compare the result with the expected output, then replace it with your own input.

Check a phone photo

Example input

JPEG containing GPS and camera EXIF

Expected output

Flagged location fields and a re-encoded copy

Verify the exported file again before sharing.

Validation checklist

  • Review every supported metadata group, including IPTC and user comments.
  • Confirm the in-tool reparse found no supported privacy metadata.
  • Compare visual quality and color with the original.

Frequently asked questions

Are images uploaded?

No. Validation, metadata inspection, re-encoding, verification, and report generation run locally in this browser.

Does a clean result prove that every kind of metadata is gone?

No. Verification covers fields supported by the selected exifr TIFF, EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, and user-comment parsers. Maker notes, ICC color profiles, and structural data outside that scope are excluded.

Will the cleaned image be pixel-identical?

No. Canvas re-encoding changes compressed pixels, may affect color appearance, and flattens animated inputs to a browser-decoded frame.
