About this tool
Create neutral or branded placeholder assets for mockups, empty states, documentation, and front-end layout work without uploading source files.
Dummy Image Generator is useful when mockups, docs, and front-end work need placeholders immediately. It helps create branded or neutral stand-ins with the right size, label, and format so teams can keep moving before final assets are ready.
- Creates 16 to 4,096 pixel images with a solid or gradient background and a label that wraps, shrinks, and truncates within the canvas when necessary.
- Exports exact-size PNG, adjustable-quality JPG, or escaped SVG directly in the browser with output byte evidence.
- Reports the minimum text contrast across every selected background color against the 4.5:1 normal-text reference.
- Includes OG, story, banner, square, and avatar presets, dimension swapping, reset controls, and an escaped HTML snippet that references the actual download name.
How to use Dummy Image
Choose the dimensions, colors, label, and file format you need, then export the placeholder once the preview matches the intended slot. If the image is meant to stand in for a social card, avatar, or banner, use the closest preset first so the proportions feel realistic in the mockup.

Examples you can test
Load an example, compare the result with the expected output, then replace it with your own input.
Create a social card placeholder
Example input
Size: 1200x630, label: Product launch preview, format: PNG
Expected output
A downloadable 1200x630 placeholder image ready for an Open Graph mockup.
This is useful before final artwork exists because the mockup can still test aspect ratio, label length, and layout spacing.
Build avatar placeholders for a prototype
Example input
Size: 512x512, label: Team member, background: solid, format: SVG
Expected output
A square vector placeholder that stays sharp in profile cards and design documentation.
SVG output is a good fit for reusable placeholders in specs, UI states, and docs where exact raster pixels are not required.
Validation checklist
- Match the generated dimensions to the real slot before exporting the file.
- Check that the label remains readable at the size where the image will be displayed.
- Use PNG or JPG for bitmap upload targets and SVG for scalable documentation or prototype assets.
- Preview the downloaded file in the destination layout before replacing final artwork or publishing the mockup.
